Möhnesee
There is much to discover on the tour: in addition to attractive sites, the Möhnetal shows itself at its most beautiful. Floodplain landscapes with lush meadows, green forests, and rolling hills characterize the scenery along the tour.
And the Möhnetal is undergoing a transformation: thanks to the “Möhne Life” project, parts of the floodplain have been renaturalized. Flower-filled valley meadows and open floodplain forests are being restored for many animal and plant species native to low-mountain valleys, offering cyclists an even richer experience of nature.
In the second half of the tour, the trail runs along the edge of Lake Möhnesee and finally ends at the imposing dam, which is over 100 years old and remains North Rhine-Westfalen’s heaviest architectural monument to this day. From there, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Möhnesee dam.
Large sections of the MöhnetalRadweg run completely flat along a former railroad right-of-way.
Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to explore Lake Möhnesee and its attractive surroundings with children.
