Accessibility Statement for Services

As part of our accessibility statement, we would like to provide you with an overview of the status of compliance of the service(s) described below with the accessibility requirements set forth in statutory regulations (in particular the Accessibility Enhancement Act—BFSG).

Information About the Service Provider

Wirtschafts- und Tourismus GmbH Möhnesee
Hauptstraße 19
59519 Möhnesee

General Description of the Service

The website www.moehnesee.de is the official tourism information portal for the Möhnesee vacation region. It is aimed at (prospective) overnight guests, day tourists, and local residents. The site offers comprehensive information about the municipality, particularly regarding events, attractions, recreational and activity options, dining, lodging options, and bookable group tours. The service is provided digitally via the website and is intended for users from Germany and abroad.

Explanations Regarding the Provision of the Service

The website www.moehnesee.de serves as a digital showcase for the tourism offerings of the Möhnesee region. It provides information on events, bookable accommodations, biking and hiking trails, attractions, recreational activities, dining establishments, and the local tourism infrastructure. In addition, daily updates, an events calendar, featured topics, and bookable group packages for various target groups are provided. The content is aimed at visitors, locals, and interested individuals from Germany and abroad and is publicly accessible.

Status of Compliance with Requirements

The service described above is partially compliant with the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG).

The following parts/content/features of the service are not accessible:

The digital service “www.moehnesee.de” is currently partially compliant with the accessibility requirements under the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG). The content and features listed below are not currently fully accessible:

  • Color Contrast: Various design elements—particularly text areas on images or colored backgrounds—sometimes lack sufficient contrast ratios. As a result, they do not fully comply with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 AA. Due to the technical structure of the content management system used, design adjustments are only possible to a limited extent.
  • Keyboard navigation and semantic structure: Full keyboard accessibility of the website, as well as the consistent use of semantic HTML structures (e.g., correctly nested headings, ARIA roles), have not yet been implemented on certain parts of the website, such as the map modules. Here, too, there are system-related limitations.
  • Technical Limitations: The website is based on an externally developed CMS that allows only limited editorial and technical modifications. Extensions intended to improve accessibility (e.g., through plugins, widgets, or structural changes) are being evaluated for feasibility.

Non-accessible parts of the service – Implementation deadlines

The website www.moehnesee.de is editorially managed and continuously maintained. However, due to the technical architecture of an externally managed content management system, far-reaching accessibility adjustments are currently only possible to a limited extent.

Color Contrast: Improvements to contrast ratios are being implemented gradually—to the extent that they are editorially feasible. Care is taken to ensure that all relevant information has sufficient contrast ratios. A fully accessible design in accordance with WCAG 2.1 AA cannot be fully implemented under the current system requirements.

Keyboard navigation and semantic structure: Structural adjustments to HTML semantics and keyboard usability can only be made within the scope of the existing CMS functionalities.

Future Outlook: A relaunch with a focus on accessibility is planned in principle, but a specific timeline has not yet been determined. Should a new development take place, the consistent implementation of accessibility requirements will be a central goal.
