Hike to the Klangwald at Möhnesee

We cross the bridge, arrive at the Delecke-Süd parking lot, and leave the B 229 there—which curves to the left—while we continue straight ahead on the paved path marked “A 7.” Via the “Naturpromenade,” which runs along the shore of the reservoir the entire way, we reach the “Torhaus” inn on the B 229 (235 m; 60 min.). This is where the “Klangwald” trail begins, featuring 10 interesting sound sculptures. Behind the inn, we turn right, now following the “A 4” sign. Here we also meet the Sauerland-Waldroute, which runs from Iserlohn to Marsberg. However, we soon leave the wide, paved path behind and, continuing to follow “A 4,” climb left uphill to the “Rennweg”: (275 m; 25 min.), which, as the Sauerland Mountain Club’s main hiking route “X 26”—connecting Neheim-Hüsten with Paderborn—runs along the northern ridge of the Arnsberg Forest. The signs guide us to the left and along the Kammweg to “Torhaus” and to the B 229, which we cross again (235 m; 20 min.). We leave “X 26” here; it continues to the left along the federal highway. We continue straight ahead on the high-altitude trail, now marked “A6.” Where this trail turns left, we come across “A 2”; we continue straight ahead, and where this sign, together with “A 1,” points us to the right, we head downhill back into the Möhnetal and to the Delecke-Süd parking lot. Crossing the bridge, we return to our starting point on the north shore of the Möhne Dam (40 min.).
