Möhnesee Lakeside Tour

The bike tour circles a large portion of Lake Möhnesee, almost always staying close to the shore, so finding your way isn’t much of a challenge. This leaves even more time to enjoy the views of the “Westfalen Sea” from both the north and south shores, as well as the attractions along the route.

If we start the loop on the north shore, the beautifully landscaped Seepark is a great place to begin. Both the various play and sports facilities for young and old and the dining options can be enjoyed to get you in the mood or to round off the bike tour. The ride eastward takes you past the Uferlos beach (admission fee applies), where an artificial sandy beach invites you to linger in the summer.

The route continues to the romantic Kanzelbrücke, whose bridge piers rise out of the water like church pulpits and make for a picturesque photo opportunity. The nearby district of Völlinghausen offers recreational activities such as mini-golf and the wildlife park (free of charge). After crossing the Kanzelbrücke, the route continues along the south bank toward the west. The Möhneaue-Völlinghausen Nature Trail features 12 information stations along a 2.4-kilometer stretch, allowing cyclists and pedestrians to discover the area’s ecological and cultural-historical highlights.

The Körbecke pedestrian and bicycle bridge would be a shortcut back to the Seepark. After crossing the Delecke Bridge, it’s worth taking a few short detours—for example, turning left at the roundabout to the public swimming area with its sunbathing lawn. Or turn right at the roundabout and, shortly afterward, head uphill on the left to the remarkable Drüggelte Chapel, whose history is shrouded in many myths. From here, it’s only a few kilometers back to the Seepark in Körbecke.
