Brunsteinkapelle

Along with St. Nicholas Chapel, Brunsteinkapelle is the last of more than 20 chapels in Soest.
Properties:
It was first mentioned in 1225 and, beginning in 1998, served for more than 20 years as the studio and exhibition space of Soest-based artist Fritz Risken.
Despite its secular use, the interior still preserves Soest’s oldest pulpit, dating from 1553; a Baroque altar table created around 1620; and the early modern tombstones that cover the entire floor of the chapel. Unfortunately, the latter are not visible today, as they had to be protected from further wear and tear by a wooden floor.
